Even though, I was born here in California, my first language is Modern Greek. For my first 5 years, I spent my days with my grandmother who did not like to speak English. Subsequently, I learned English when I entered kindergarten When I was seven, I began spending my summers at my grandmother’s sister’s house in Neos Marmaras in Northern Greece. As a teenager, I worked helping one of my cousins run his water sports business in N. Marmaras.
While in my twenties, I studied Modern Greek at the College of Marin. When I transferred to UCLA, I taught Modern Greek as a volunteer for the Hellenic American Student Organization. After UCLA, I studied Modern Greek Literature at UC Berkeley.
I feel that is my duty to help people learn Greek.
